The following is a brief synopsis of 'The Gate: Wrath of the Demon Lord' (aka Gate III) the unofficial sequel to the 1987 supernatural/ horror film 'The Gate'...(Fans of this movie will no doubt recognize the characters mentioned. Apologies to those who don't.)
It's been 20 years since the events of the first movie took place...and Glen (now age 30) has been living a solitary existence, moving from town to town, barely making ends meet and now resides in a small apartment somewhere in Toronto, Canada. Separated from his family and still plagued by nightmares about the demonic events all those years ago...Glen enlists the help of a hypno- therapist in order to overcome his dark and incapacitating dreams. During a hypnosis session...the ignorant and manipulative therapist forces Glen to recite the incantation (aka kuto ala eta) that opened the Gate 20 years ago, confident that the act of doing so will finally purge the young man of what the therapist believes are only 'metaphorical demons'. Later, unaware of what has occured and believing that he is 'cured' Glen returns to normal, everyday life. For a short while everything is peaceful...but when Glen's estranged sister Alexandra suddenly turns up on his doorstep and reveals that her husband has been attacked and killed by a Minion, Glen realises with horror that the incantation has been recited...that the Gate is opening once more. Returning to their old (and rebuilt) family home...Glen, Alexandra and Terry (who is now a lecturer of demonology at a local university) struggle to protect the innocent family that now lives in the house and once again must face- off against the powers of evil that are reaching out from beyond the Gate...but this time, in order to close it forever...the ultimate sacrifice must be made.
Well...that's the basic plot. What do you guys think?
Good read indeed! I don't know why, but I associate gates with time & space events.
