Children of Men - 2006 - Staring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine & Claire-Hope Ashitey
The bleak future depicted in Children of Men is also disturbingly believable and a mere 20 years away. The film envisages a world that has descended into anarchy and commonplace terrorism, a world in which it has been 19 years since any human has been born and the oldest person on the planet – 18-year-old Diego Ricardo – has just been assassinated for refusing to sign an autograph. Only Britain has managed to maintain any kind of order – albeit in a violent police state in which the increasing number of refugees that flood into the country are caged, deported and, it would seem in some cases, shot.
I saw this yesterday, it is a powerfull film.
